Manchester United Officially Sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton in £70m Deal

Manchester United have officially signed 22-year-old Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba on a contract running until June 2031, with an option to extend the deal by a further year. The Cameroon international will wear the No. 20 shirt.

According to previous reports from journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have agreed to pay £65 million in guaranteed fees plus £5 million in add-ons, taking the total potential transfer fee to £70 million.

The Cameroon international has signed a contract running until June 2031, with the option to extend it by a further year.

At just 22, Baleba has already established himself as one of the Premier League’s most talented midfielders. During the 2024-25 season, he ranked sixth among Premier League midfielders for combined tackles and interceptions, while his progressive carries per 90 minutes ranked fourth.

Last season, Baleba made 31 Premier League appearances for Brighton. His combined tackles and interceptions placed him in the top 8% of all players, while his success rate in ground-duel contests ranked in the top 1%. His performances helped Brighton secure qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
