Manchester City Deny Premier League Charges and Vow to Pursue All Available Appeals

Manchester City have issued an official statement denying the charges brought by the Premier League, saying the club is both disappointed and surprised by the findings published today by the Premier League commission. The club will seek every available avenue of appeal.

The club stated that Manchester City is innocent of the charges brought by the Premier League and that there is comprehensive and irrefutable evidence supporting all of the club’s positions in this case. Manchester City will therefore continue to defend its position vigorously in all appropriate regulatory and legal forums and, where necessary, take proactive action.

The relevant Premier League proceedings are still ongoing, with significant stages yet to be completed. Manchester City Football Club will now pursue the avenues of appeal available to it, on the grounds that the decision contains clear and material errors relating to law, principle and fact, and that it is unsafe.

The club said that for the past eight years, it has diligently respected due process, based on the expectation that the Premier League’s board and executive leadership would act as an independent, impartial and fair regulatory body, free from partisan bias.

Until all future proceedings have been concluded, the club is clearly limited in what further comments it can make.
