Liverpool Linked With Calvin Verdonk, But How Real Is the Rumor?
Rumors linking Indonesia international Calvin Verdonk with Liverpool have emerged on social media, with several Indonesian Instagram accounts circulating the story on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The reports claim that the left-back could be considered as a replacement for Andy Robertson, who departed Liverpool at the end of last season.
Liverpool are currently relying on Milos Kerkez as their main option at left-back under manager Andoni Iraola. Kerkez has yet to consistently deliver his best performances in the position, which has helped fuel speculation that Liverpool could look for another player. The circulating rumor also puts Verdonk’s potential transfer fee at around €11 million, equivalent to approximately Rp224 billion.
However, there appears to be little evidence supporting the claim. A review of recent reports from major media outlets in England and France found no credible coverage connecting Verdonk with Liverpool. The story has largely remained within social media circles rather than being backed by established transfer sources or mainstream football media.
A move away from LOSC Lille would also appear difficult at this stage, particularly because the summer transfer window closed on September 1, 2026. With the European transfer market already shut, any immediate transfer involving Verdonk would be highly unlikely unless exceptional circumstances arise.
For now, the Liverpool-Verdonk story should therefore be treated with considerable caution. There is no reliable indication that Liverpool have made a move for the Indonesian defender, while the reported €11 million valuation also remains unverified. Until credible sources provide further information, the rumor appears to be speculation rather than a confirmed transfer development.
